вдячний
Many of us have the “boilerplate” вдячний list of family, friends, and community (which I honestly, all too often, take for granted).
Those of us blessed with such a highly personal gratitude list may also forget that this time of year (Thanksgiving through Christmas — et al.) is an especially hard time for many others. Some lack our support and affirmation networks. Others have had recent, unexpected losses that make it difficult to see past the empty spot at the table.
The pandemic took many from us, globally, and a brutal, needless war in Ukraine has devastated many families and communities.
Let’s all take at least a singular moment during our celebrations to truly be вдячний for what we do have, and make some (more) time for those who have not.

Turkeys Away: An Oral History
“As $DEITY as my witness, I thought turkeys could fly!”
The character Arthur Carlson uttered that line at the end of one of the most famous sitcom episodes in TV history: the WKRP Turkey Drop (air date: October 30th, 1978).
In “Turkeys Away: An Oral History,” folks can get a peek behind the scenes of how the show came about.
Both of the above links are amusing reads (language warnings, tho).
Sadly, the episode is based in reality.
